| This summer is proving to be a really demanding. I am working as a missionary and preaching intern at the Christian Church of Slidell in Slidell, LA a little outside of New Orleans. There is still a lot of work to do down here. It's strange, some places like Slidell are almost back to normal, then there are others like Pearlington, MS, where I do a lot of ministering, that hasn't hardly been touched. It's hard for people that have moved on with life and gotten back to "normal" to remember that their neighbors are still without and most likely will be for a couple more years. Be in prayer for me this summer. And if you want me to add you to my weekly email newsletter let me know. | | |
| I can't tell you how glad I am that this semester is over. This has been one long semester. I am spending the summer down in Slidell right outside New Orleans. I will be interning at a church there as the preaching and missions intern. I will be doing some preaching, but also will be going out and building relationships with the people of New Orleans. The whole area is still in great need of prayer and rebuilding. I have been praying for them ever since Katrina hit and getting the chance to go down last April really opened my eyes to the extent of the situation. Be in prayer for me as I get ready to go down in a few weeks. 2 days, 4classes + chapel, 6 hrs.....the countdown has begun | | |
| So last Friday I spent the whole day at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. I was totally amazed. 24/7 prayer and worship. I will be going back in the near future.
But what I have really taken away from the experience is that that is what our lives need to be like everyday. Why doesn't the church pray? What are we doing instead? Playing video games, watching movies, eating, watching sports, doing homework. It makes me sick. We need to be praying, I need to be praying. ALL THE TIME!!!! FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!
Here is a challenge. Instead of the casual "hey" or "how's it going" really ask people what they need prayer for and then pray, right then. Just think of the possibility. We have in us the capability to be the next Paul. What is holding us back? GET RID OF IT!!!!! KILL IT!!!!! CRUCIFY IT!!!!!
When are we going to quit putting Jesus on the cross and start putting ourselves there? Or don't you know that as many as were baptized into Him were also baptized into His death? We should have as much desire for the things of this world as a dead man. Lets start living like we have died to this world and walking in the newness of life that is in us. We are new creations, the old is gone the new is come. When are we going to live like it and grow up.
Let's pray church. Let's pray.

| Does truth exist? If it does can we know it? Does God exist? How would you describe Him? Did God really create everything out of nothing? If not, what is your understanding of how the universe came into being? Does God intervene in human lives and the events in this world in supernatural ways? In what ways can he or has he done this? Are humans just a higher form of animal or do you think that they are special because they are created in God's image? If humans are not created in God's image, then what value can they have and who determines this value? Has God communitcated with humans in the past, for example, in the lives of some people in the Bible? If so, how has he communicated with them? Do you think there is evil in the world? If there is then where did it come from? Do you believe in right and wrong? Is so, how do we determine what is right and wrong? Regardless of your worldview, do you believe that human beings and societies are getting better or worse? In what ways are they getting better or worse? What hope do humans beings have as they look to the future? | | |
| As I am reading the story of the wee little man, Zaccheus, I am reminded of what happened yesterday. A bunch of us had a picnic of sorts in the dorm for the holiday and watched Narnia. Well, I was in the back and couldn't see well. I switched seats, and could see even worse. I switched seats again and was satisfied. The question I have is when was I ever that determined to see God. Ever? I have seen God move is some amazing ways. I read in the Bible of the miracles of Old. Where is my expectancy today? Am I content just to go through today like any other day or am I willing to climb a silly little tree to see God move? Lord may I press in to see You. May I do whatever it takes so that I am with you! And then let me be changed as Zaccheus was. I don't want to see You for the sake of just seeing You, but want to be changed. Make me holy as You are holy. | | |
